The Upper Chesapeake Community Band was founded sixteen years ago. We are an all-age, all-volunteer organization whose purpose is to provide concert music for the surrounding community, and to give adult musicians a way to continue performing after leaving school.  Our band plays year-round for local nursing homes, retirement centers, civic functions, parades, Fourth of July celebrations and Christmas concerts.  We are supported in part by grants from the Cecil County Arts Council and the Maryland State Arts Council, and by the Rising Sun American Legion.  The band has also appeared in concert at the Milburn Stone Theater four times doing two Christmas Concerts, "Showtime Spectacular" with the Showtime Singers of Ellicott City, MD. and celebrating our 15th anniversary.

The Upper Chesapeake Community Band is always looking for new musicians to join us.  We especially need clarinet, oboe, alto sax, and trumpet, and French Horn,  but can use more musicians in every area.  We have members from ages12 to senior citizens.  They are of all walks of life and levels of musical ability (must be able to play grade 3 music), and there is no audition.  If you play an instrument, or once played an instrument, and would be interested in joining us, send an e-mail from the contact us link or call our director at 410-658-4534 for more information.

We are also looking to increase our color guard and front for the parades that we will be doing this year.  We need people to march in front of the band and carry our banner, flags and "guns".  Any person, male or female, young or older, may help us in this area.  You must obtain a uniform.  Also, they need not attend any rehearsal, just be present for one parade practice and parades.
If you are interested in filling any of these open positions, go to the contact us link, and call or e-mail us to ask questions or to signup.
